RE: Questions about my parents new(84) motorhome(Alaska)

I "acquired" an 86 20' Minnie Winnie last Sept. I had the brake system replaced so it was all new past the master cylinder, including lines. Put new tires, hoses, belts and changed motor and tranny oil. I drove it from the Cape in MA to Seymour, CT. In Jan, we took it to Orlando and back, having to replace the water pump. Other than the water pump, I've had no other problems and we used it a lot this summer. If I didn't go and get the 30', I'd take that thing anywhere. Just needed a bigger unit. Remember, you are on an adventure. Enjoy it.

RE: How Long Does It Take For THe Fridge To Start Cooling?

GoReds2, Your question as to how long it'll run on 20 Gal of propane isn't an easy one to anwer other than it'll run a real long time. There is only a small flame needed unlike the HW heater. I filled mine up the beginning of summer, have used mainly only the reefer on propane. I cook outside and only occasionally need to run the HW. I've still got a 1/4 tank and we camp almost every weekend. We go to areas with no hookups.

RE: need class c manual

I needed one for 1999. I went here. and they sent me one. It was a photocopy, and I think they charged me like $30 or so. Not really helpful, though. I had no manuals when I bought mine. I went to Norcold, duotherm, dometic and all the other sites for info on all the appliances. I now have a manual on everyting in the coach, including the TV antenna.

RE: Boy, do I stink!

Sorry to hear about that water running down the pantry. I'd hate to have to rip a wall apart. It's not that I don't have the skills or tools, I'm just too lazy!;) But backing up a step, I was just in our 20' Minnie Winnie which I haven't been able to sell. It has a wet bath, where you s**t, shower and shave all while you sit on the can. The sink pivots down and has no drain. To empty it, you just pivot it back up. The smell in there is pretty bad. I ran some water in the sink and tipped it back up. I'm figuring the plumbing for the drain is a funnel kind of thing with a P trap that dumps to the black tank? Does anyone know how that works? I'm hoping I had an empty trap.

Like PapPappy, this is always my first stop. I subscribed to it. So far, this is one of the most interesting threads on the board. No flaming, just one guy doing a hell of job with a lot of support from all the rest. Keep it up.

RE: Digital or Analog. How do you know?

I can always bet that if I own it, will need to be upgraded. You sound like you know me.:) You prolly know my buddy, Murphy. Yep. Both are analog. Oh well, Best Buy, here I come. Thanks for all the great replies.

Digital or Analog. How do you know?

How do I know if my TV is digital or analog? Can I just enter a model # on a web site? I don't care about my home TV's because I have cable boxes from the cable company for both TV's, but the 2 for the camper I'm unsure of. One is a new enought Samsung that can be used as a monitor so I'm sure that one is digital. The other is flat screen CRT Sony that I've had for a while.

RE: Hitch failed with heavy trailer

I know this isn't a cheap solution, but here it is anyway.Trailer toad I talked to fellow using one and he loves it. The MH takes very little strain from the bouncing around of the tongue. I'm considering one when I take longer trips and plan on towing a hot rod in an enclosed trailer.

RE: No Cruis Control with lights on?

I'll have to play around with this a bit. I don't drive much at night, but, it's just plain annoying. Thanks for the ideas. I'll just have to find some time to play with this a bit.

No Cruis Control with lights on?

We just went from CT to MI in our new to us 99 Four Winds 28A on a Chevy chassis. I used my lights to signal a trucker that it was safe to pull back in on the Interstate, and it shut down my cruise control. Is this normal? This means I have no cruise control at night?

Is any else having this much fun????

I bought an $89 ladder for my C on EBay. I went to put it on today, and the darn roof has no blocking where the top would mount. HMPH! A waste of money there...... Went to WalMart and bought a wireless camera and 2.5" monitor. Hooked it up temporarily and it seemed to get lots of interference. Come to find out from there website, it only has a range of 19' for the transmitter. My dash is about 25' from the camera mount. At least I can take it back to WalMart. Oh well, I hope everyone else is enjoying the holiday weekend.

RE: Lobster Dip

Oh man! This sounds like something we had at a micro brewery on Rt 2 in Maine. We've tried to recreate it, but with no luck. I'm gonna have to try this to see if it is similiar. Thanks.

RE: Cab Privacy?

I figured that going down the road, we'd have to do something to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. The dash heat and air weren't meant to keep the whole coach temp comfy. With the Four Winds, if I had passengers that maybe wanted to go 50-50 on gas, I could run the roof air with the genset, but for just the wife and I, no way!

RE: Cab Privacy?

I appreciate all the replies. Seems that the original owner had something that snapped in, but I'm the 3d owner. I noticed when we were out in January, a lot of cold came from the cab area. When I jury rigged a blanket to cover the opening, it made a huge difference. We wil be using this mainly 3 seasons, but I can see us going out in the winter on short jaunt or two. It would be nice to have something that looked half way decent. It would also seem to be a good idea in the heat of summer. As we go down the road with the dash air on, We'd stay cooler if I had a barrier separating the cab from the back. Thanks again.

Cab Privacy?

What do most do to block off the front cab from the living area, or do you. I have the white cover that goes over all the cab windows, but I'd like to separate the cab and the living quarters, especially during cold weather camping. Something that would keep the cold from the cab from entering the living quarters. How do you guys do it? Any pics?
